Bustang Plans Potential Fare Increase

UPDATE 4/25/2019: The Fare Increase has been postponed. We will reevaluate the possibility of a fare increase later this year.

Original Post, March 6, 2019:

Bustang is considering implementing a fare increase to offset the rising costs of diesel fuel and to help offset increased driver hiring and recruiting costs, as well as growing industry insurance costs. This fare increase applies to North, South and West Line routes. Senior and disabled fares are NOT affected by this increase. Bustang Outrider routes will also not be affected (Lamar to Colorado Springs, Durango to Grand Junction, and Alamosa to Pueblo).

  • Fares from $2.50 to $20.00 will increase by $1.00 each.
  • Fares from $21.00 to $43.00 will increase by $2.00 each.
  • Multi-ride packs will increase proportional to single ride fare.
  • 40-ride Example: Loveland to Denver is $9.00 one-way. The 40 pack is discounted 25% to $6.75 one way, and $270 for 40. The new fare will be $10 one-way, so discounted 25% will be $7.50 one-way, and $300 for 40.

This proposed fare increase will potentially become effective on Sunday, May 19th, 2019. Tickets purchased prior to the fare increase will still be valid after May 19, but will be subject to the 180-day expiration period. Expired tickets will not be refunded.
